
Ryan Hanes
Ryan Hanes is a career Captain with Matthews Fire & EMS where he is assigned to Engine 12-A and coordinates their Special Operations Division. Ryan also serves in his local community as a part-time Captain for the West Stanly Fire Department. Ryan’s fire service career began in 2009 where he served four years as a firefighter/engineer in the United States Air Force. After his military career, he served as a Firefighter/AEMT with Greenville Fire-Rescue while also volunteering with the Red Oak Community Rural Fire Department. Ryan has been a certified instructor for 8 years and has been teaching certification classes for the last two. Ryan is a qualified Level-2 Instructor for the Firefighter and Technical Rescuer series. Non-certification classes that he is passionate about teaching are: leadership, company officer roles/responsibilities, engine company operations, rescue operations and health & wellness classes. Outside of his fire career, Ryan is married and has three dogs. Ryan and his wife, Caitlyn, are expecting their first child in January of 2021. In the little down time he has, Ryan enjoys being outdoors, playing hockey and exercising. Ryan primarily teaches in our Western Division of Resurrection Fire-Rescue Training.

Carson Brown
Associates in Applied Science Fire Protection Technology, Lieutenant Greenville Fire Rescue, NCTF-10 Land Search Coordinator, and RRT-1 HazMat Specialist
Carson has 20 years in the Fire and EMS Service with 10 years of instruction and his specialties include Level 2 firefighting, HazMat, Technical Rescue Vehicle, Level 1 Paramedic Instructor, and Land Search.
He enjoys teaching and sharing what he’s learned over the years to newer firefighters. He loves anything rescue or hazmat related. In addition, he is the owner of FlashOver Flags where he creates wood carved flags and signs.
